A very rare Dinar of Adomano

HUNNIC TRIBES, Alchon Huns. Adomano, circa 450-500. Dinar (Electrum, 34 mm, 7.13 g, 12 h), uncertain mint. αδομανο μιιροσανοϷαο ('Adomano, King of the East' in Bactrian) Adomano standing front, head to left, wearing a diademed crown with a crescent at the top, within which is a chakra; attached to the crescent are two broad horizontally pleated ribbons; two additional horizontally pleated ribbons; he is holding a beribboned trident in his right hand and second trident in his left; to his lower right, tamgha. Rev. Enthroned Ardoksho seated facing. Göbl 85. Vondrovec, Type 85. Very rare. Very fine.

Vondrovec Type 85, which features clearly Alchon characteristics of the king, is much rarer than Type 85A, which depicts Adomano in a more wild and abstract style.
